ART TV: First and foremost, thank you for receiving us. You have dedicated your life to one specific idea.
ADNAN OKTAR: Yes.
ART TV: How do you live with that?
ADNAN OKTAR: And you have honoured me. I am very happy to see you here. I am really very happy. The answer to your question; it is a most exciting and pleasurable thing for a person to have and live by a great ideal.
I may say that living for Allah, living for His approval, is the most important of those characteristics that make human beings human. It makes one better able to enjoy beauty. Beauty comes to have a meaning, life has a meaning, everything has a meaning. Nothing has any significance in the absence of Allah’s approval. That makes everything cold and repellent.
ART TV: In your address yesterday you said that the Pope was actually under pressure and was unable to say everything. Are you free in those terms, are you able to say everything you want?
ADNAN OKTAR: I openly challenge Darwinism and openly state that it is a lie and a false theory, a trap, but the Pope is unable to say that. He cannot say this, it is very difficult, because the whole of the European press, other scientists, everyone will fall on him like a ton of bricks and leave him no peace.
ART TV: Who are those people who believe in you, those around you or who share your views? Are they young people, or members of a particular class or political grouping? What are they like?
ADNAN OKTAR: Any honest person able to think freely and not exposed to pressure, particularly not to pressure from society, will immediately and easily see the existence of Allah. It is very easy. A perfect, 3D image forms inside the human brain. This is something extraordinary, for which there is no explanation. An image far clearer than top quality televisions forms in the human brain, in a piece of flesh not much larger than a fist. A higher quality sound that emerges from even the best music system or recording device forms inside the human brain. It also forms in a very small place in the brain. This is highly important, a major phenomenon. These two things alone are sufficient proof of the existence of Allah. In order to be able to say that, however, a person has to be free from social and family pressure. Everyone can see this in the absence of pressure. Anyone not exposed to social pressure can see that Darwinism is untrue. What has chance ever done, for human beings to be able to do it? It is utterly naïve to say that chance is the power that gave rise to Einstein, to Newton? What they are saying is that one day proteins formed in a bit of muddy water, followed by a cell, which then turned into a fish, and the fish into a monkey, and the monkey into a human being. This is an utterly illogical explanation that you could never even find in fairy tales. Scientists examining underground fossils clearly see this, those people not exposed to pressure all state this fact. And we see it, too. And we display that. We see that millions of fossils say “Allah created us,” all of them. When we look at the millions of fossils we see the fact of creation in every one of them. There is not one single transitional form fossil among them. So how, in the absence of even one transitional form fossil, can we puff our chests out and say that Darwinism is true.
ART TV: How do you describe yourself? Some people describe you as a sect leader, others as a religious leader, or as a political individual. Where do you stand on this?
ADNAN OKTAR: I am a servant of Allah, created by Him. I ascribe no position to myself. But I am a Muslim, and a man with a cause. I can say that I am a Muslim with a cause.
ART TV: This is something that I am curious about as a woman; I always see you surrounded by men. Are there no women who share your views?
ADNAN OKTAR: Of course there are. I have many female colleagues.
ART TV: At yesterday’s meeting you said the Messiah would be coming in 20 years’ time. How do you know that? From what sources?
ADNAN OKTAR: When we look at the hadith of our Prophet we can see it. He has revealed that there will be signs in the End Times, close to Doomsday, and the portents of these. These are set out one by one in the most reliable books of hadiths. There are around 300 portents, and just about all of these have taken place. We can see this in all clarity from the hadiths, the dates given and the descriptions provided.
ART TV: Could you give us a more concrete idea of the subject to hand? In other words, which class do you address? The poor? Politicians? Could you give us a bit more detail?
ADNAN OKTAR: I address the whole of society, from professors to street cleaners or someone hoeing the soil out in the country. And one can see the effect of this activity in everyone. I have had a very clear response from France. We see today that the number of the French public who believe in Allah are very high. We see that the French public believe in Allah in large numbers. Sarkozy’s latest statements were excellent. These statements increased my sympathy and affection for him. This shows that he is a honest, a courageous leader in the face of pressure. Had he been hesitant he might not have said he had religious belief, and might have hushed it up. But he had the courage to openly state this fact, that might be thought of as damaging to his left-wing standing. I again congratulate him on that.
ART TV: Do those who believe in you have to be members of one particular faith? Do they have to be Muslims? Or can Jews and Christians join, too?
ADNAN OKTAR: I want all members of all faiths to be devout within those faiths. I want a Jew to be genuinely devout. I want a Christian to be a true Christian and to behave in the light of the Bible. I want a Muslim to abide fully by the Qur’an. But at the end of the day I of course want to see the whole world live by Islamic virtues.
