There are different file types for you to download for each type of work. These file types and the programs you can use them with are set out below. Please e-mail us about any files you are certain do not work or which belong to different works.

Many files on our site have been zipped for easy downloading. There is no need to install any other program if you use Windows XP or a later operating system to extract zipped files. For older systems you can download the WinZip program free of charge from winzip.com or the WinRar program from rarlabs.com.

Adobe Acrobat Reader Files (.pdf) |

This is used for illustrated files (books). After opening a zipped file you can view .pdf extension files with Adobe Acrobat Reader. If Acrobat Reader is not installed on your system, you can obtain it from adobe.com. Acrobat Reader is free of charge.

You can view .rtf files in the MS Office package with Word. Even if Word is not installed on your computer, you can still open these files by using the WordPad program which comes with the Windows operating system.

This file format is used for documentary films. If you have never viewed a divx film on your computer then you will need to extract and install the relevant file, on a one-off basis, from divx.com. You can then watch the documentaries on Windows Media Player or another program. For xvid films you need to download and install the relevant file from xvid.com, again on a one-off basis. This is a file format used for interactive CDs. It contains an exact copy of interactive CDs. After downloading the file it can be opened on your hard disc or written onto CD with your CD writer. These CDs have been prepared for PCs. Macintosh users can open these CDs by first installing the VirtualPC program and installing the Windows operating system onto their computers.
